Event Finals |
Rules & Procedures
Event Finals are available to the top 6 finishing athletes in each respective event for the following age groups: Level 9 (Age 12-13), Level 10 (Age 14-15), Level 10 (16-18). Please note -- We will not be holding finals for levels and age groups that are not eligible for National Championships.
There will be a one hour general warm-up for all qualified athletes prior to the start of the competition.
Event finalists will compete one athlete at a time, 3 events at a time. To illustrate, the Level 10 (Age 16-18) group will begin on Floor Exercise, the Level 10 (Age 14-15) group will begin on Pommel Horse, and the Level 9 (Age 12-13 Group) will begin on Still Rings. They will then rotate through those events and then move to the second three competitive events. Level 10 (Age 16-18) would then begin on Vault, Level 10 (14-15) would begin on Parallel Bars, and Level 9 (Age 12-13) would begin on High Bar.
There will be a two panel judge for each event, and start values will be flashed prior to the final score.
In the event of a tie, the athlete with the higher combined event score (Preliminary + Event Finals) will receive the award.
Coaches and athletes that choose not to compete in Event Finals need to notify the scoring desk before the conclusion of the day (Day 1). After all the scratches have been factored in, the top six on each event will be posted.
In the case of a scratch prior to competition, the athlete in the # 7 (alternate) spot on the event will be notified and will be eligible to compete. In the event of more than one scratch, the athletes in the next lowest spots (#8 and below) will NOT be eligible to compete, and the competition group will be shortened.
